1:24 am - Ok, Dan, here's a little update
I actually thought about making an update yesterday...but...I didn't. Sad because I'm not feeling too wordy right now. I've been having a good time at school, despite the few times Bethany and I couldn't find anything to do. But then the next weekend was pretty crazy. And we beat Penn State. And I was SOOOOOO FREAKING CLOSE IT WAS UNBELIVEABLE! We are row nine, but we were technically sitting in the 5th row, right behind the recruits, who were sitting the whole time. So anything north of the 50 yard line was awesome. But a score's a score, even if we can't see the south endzone very well. I guess I'll give a short overview of the last few weekends...

Friday a few weeks ago was Bethany's B-day, which involved a funtastic time with Bethany (of course), Caitlin, Katherine, and Nick Schott. We went to an italian restaurant, then chilled in Cavanaugh, went to dueling pianos at legends, etc. The next day was the Georgia Tech game watch, that video from Free Willy, Roxanne...the list goes on. Was that the night of the random off-campus party that we didn't mean to go to? Who knows?

Anyway, this past weekend was really awesome. The weekend started for me on Thursday, including trumpet lesson with Nick, talking to Jane, and going to Joe's apartment at Lafayette. Yeah...I slept on someone's futon that night...fun times. The next night was friday, and Bethany and I sure made the rounds. Including...TC, Drummer's Circle, Madison Street, and finally Lafayette til 4am. And the next day was...PENN STATE GAME. It was one of the most fun ones I'd been to. We rocked! Afterwards was the always wonderful candlelight dinner in south, and later stoplight party at steds. All I can say about that...it was SOO HOT AND HUMID!! And I took lots o crazy pics of Mary which are now on Facebook. Check em' out. After that, Bethany, Matt and I went once again to Lafayette. Turns out everyone has some weird connection to everyone else here.

So that's about it. School's been ok, other than the fact that the weather changed, so everyone is tired and feeling under the weather.

Thanks for reading to those of you who still do!

2:37 am - Oh, how seldom I update...
Right now I am in the basement with other RAs. I have somehow managed to resist the urge of addictive Mah Jongg on candystand.com, and mosey-ed on over the espn.com. Who else is on the front page (of the WHOLE SITE) but Charlie Weis. I like that I am guaranteed tickets to these games that over 30,000 people who put in requests are not getting. I'm excited!

In other news, GSP is going quite well...probably the best job I've had. The RAs are all cool...except Tommy, and only because he sad he was going to read this. I can't believe I have abut a week and a half left! Then what am I going to do? There is talk of a road trip, but that is still in its beginning stages.

So what have I been up to the past few weeks?

-MOP
-Eating lots of desserts
-not enough running
-crying at an Adam Sandler movie...don't laugh!
-seeing friends I haven't seen in awhile
-leading seminars
-sleeping late
-waking early on occasion
-dealing with a few semi-insults (I bring them on myself...well, a few of them)
-Listening to music on my zen micro...my baby!
-hike club!
-hanging out and more hanging out
-trying not to forget my lines in RA update
-ROARchestra
-Bats Game
-Shakespeare in the Park
-watching movies on big screens in big rooms
-watching World Cup games
-lots of other stuff

I am all by myself in here, yo! Time for bed...NIGHT!

i just saw a preview for the new "strangers with candy" movie and I am excited for a variety of reasons.

1. I still can't believe the actress is David Sedaris' sister.
2. The preview used music from Le Tigre.
3. Stephen Colbert is in it.

Yeah, that's about it.

Yay! Tommy Z won his fight! Way to show them that the Irish know how to fight!

In other news I leave for GSP today...I'm excited and of course, a little scared.

I've been thinking about things lately. It's weird how distance gives you perspective. But I didn't think this would happen again this summer...

9:48 pm - Now that I know people actually READ this thing...
This weekend was fun, but a bad weekend for sports, in my opinion. Friday I went to the ND- College of Charleston baseball game. It rained the whole time which kinda sucked. It was by far the longest baseball game I have ever attended. SIXTEEN INNINGS. That's almost 2 whole games. And of couse, we lose. So like us. Anyway, it was a pretty good game, a few mistakes and we could have capitalized on some situations, but overall we played fairly well. Sigh. After that, I went to my aunt and uncle's house for dinner. I changed out of my soggy clothes and ate a good meal. After that I went over to Stepho's house, where there was a good number of GSP-ers along with other cool people. It was a fun time, although I was sore the next morning either because I was attempting to box, or because everyone kept giving each other massages for some reason. I also tried to convince someone that Brady Quinn isn't THAT amazing. Or at least that he didn't used to be. We stayed up very late as well. Anyway, the day I went to the state track meet where my brother's school came in second by 8 points, which is kinda disappointing in that they had a great shot at winning.

In other news I just ordered an mp3 player. Yes, I am one of THOSE people now. Although mine is cooler because it has an FM tuner, among other features. Take that Apple!

Less than 3 days until I get my wisdom teeth out. Oh joy.

12:51 pm - Weekend plans
So after calling and calling the ticket office, my dad finally got us tickets to watch ND play College of Charleston in Lexington tomorrow. Baseball, if you didn't know. Anyway, after that I suppose I will be hanging with the Lexington crew for awhile. Should be a fun weekend. Then Tues. I am going to my brother's track banquet which usually has good food, and the next morning I am getting my wisdom teeth out. The doctor said it should be an easy surgery, so hopefully I feel better by the time I leave for GSP.

The Summer of George   Julie

If you've ever seen that Seinfeld episode when George finds out he gets three months pay after getting fired by the Yankees, you know what this post's title is all about. My job doesn't start for two more weeks, so I spent the first two weeks George-style (minus the recliner with a fridge). Basically I've done nothing. Well, I did hang out with my brother's friends a few times...a pretty cool bunch. We saw X-men 3 which I liked despite the un-realism (seriously...why doesn't Magneto just take out Wolverine in the beginning of the fight?)

So now I've decided that it's phase II of the summer of Julie. Today Milf, Rory and Pat were driving through on their way to Colorado, so we went to Cafe 360 and to Book and Music Exchange. It was fun and nice to see them again, if only for a short while. There was talk of picking me and some others up on their way back and all heading to NYC. So I got home and decided to keep the streak of productiveness alive, so I called up my friend Katie from high school and we went to see Posidon together (and I saw some people I used to work with, so that was cool, too. And I got in for $3.) Well, I guess the trend technically started Saturday night when I went to a party at another girl from high school's house. At that party I was invited to two more parties, one of which I considered attending, but ended up not due to my brother's graduation party running late and my laziness to commute that far.

My plans for the future? Well, I talked to Carmen about some sort of cross country potluck reunion, and this weekend I hope to go to Lexington on Friday, watch ND baseball at 2:00, hang with my friends, and return home on Saturday. This is all contingent on when I get my wisdom teeth out. Yuck.

So all of you in livejournal land, we should hang out sometime...even if we haven't seen each other in awhile...heck, I haven't seen anyone in awhile! So go ahead, be a part of the Summer of Julie.

10:46 pm - a few semi-interesting things
So, I guess a few note-worthy things have happened. Most recently, a tree a few houses down was struck by lightning and caused damage to four houses. If you live by me, you know how freakin' huge those trees are. Massive. Two years ago, this week, actually, one of them fell across Eastern Parkway. It's kinda strange. Makes me a little glad they took the big trees in front of our house down.

Anyway, today I went to Seneca park to play soccer with Alan and his friends, then I went to give blood with my dad in order to get a free chicken dinner. And, of course, to save some lives.

Tonight we got the beer for my brother's other graduation party. (It's for the older people at the party, just FYI.) My dad and I were able to fit 5 cases of longnecks (that's 120 beers) in our fridge. It's pretty impressive.

Yesterday I went to my brother's track meet. It was kinda sad...he had the potential to make it to state, but fouled all three times. The last one was quite questionable, but alas, there is no instant replay in HS track and field. It was weird, the long jumper did the same thing...both seniors. It was sad. His team won though, and finished off the evening with an exciting win in the 4x400 relay, so that was cool.

Sunday was Alan's graduation and whatnot. I went to his friend/ my "other brother" Joey's party for a little bit and that was fairly entertaining. His family seems funny. Then Alan and my cousin Joe had their party for that side of the family, so I got to see a few cousins and whatnot. Afterwards, Alan and his girlfriend and I went to his friend Brett's house, where we played badminton, volleyball and GUITAR HERO which is an awesome game. It's like DDR but with a guitar thing. It was really fun...my brother's friends are pretty funny.

Ok, that's about it. Hopefully I'll have some visitors next week, maybe I can make it to Lexington, and I think some of my friends are finally coming back to Louisville. So hopefully good times to come. And wisdom teeth removal...bleh!

12:10 am - I really should update more...
Seriously, what the heck happened the last few weeks? Well, there were study days, watching the Derby, finals week, Cinco de Mayo, eating Wendy's, saying goodbye, PACKING...grr. Then I came home and have worked, visited family, went shopping a little, watched my brother's track meet, ate at Mr. Gattis and got FREE PIZZA, and cleaned out my file cabinet. Nothing too exciting, really. I wish the lest few weeks of school weren't marred by projects, tests, and studying. I could have used some hanging out time with people. Well, I mean, Friday wasn't bad. After my Italian test, we went to lunch, then Bethany and I used about $60 worth of print quota printing out large color posters. Then we went around a rainy campus to say goodbye to people, but couldn't find anyone. Bethany and I ended up in Katherine's room trying on Mardi Gras beads. Later we showered at the same time and shared shampoo and whatnot. That evening we (me, Bethany, Katherine, Caitlin) went to eat with Bethany's parents. We ended up eating at Wendy's and then getting ice cream (your mom called...she wants a cake). Anyway, that night I went to Sorin, saw some people, and said goodbye/hung out with Milf. Bethany and I went to park her car and we ended up running into Pat and Dolu! It was a happy time! Then later that evening Mary came over and she and Katherine spent the night. Mary was very helpful...she helped me pack the next morning. After packing for, like, ever, my dad and I ate at Reckers and Katherine (the other one) came over to say goodbye. I think move out is stressful like that so people aren't too sad to leave. I know after that ordeal I was ready to leave. Well, that's about it.

On a side note, I AM, IN FACT, IN LOUISVILLE. PLEASE HANG OUT WITH ME. THANK YOU.

current mood: eh...I guess tired-ish?

11:41 am - OAKS DAY
Woop! Yeah, I love Derby time, and I'm a little sad I'm not home for it. Sigh. Anyway, I've decided to change my AIM profile, so I'm moving the random Bethany quotation action here. Enjoy.

Random Bethany quotation action!!
"I don't know if I can go because if I get drunk and Judge #4 is there, someone's getting slapped!"
"Judge Judy has NOTHING to do with South Bend...that's bullshit!"
"Why is it always the creepy guys?"
"This is what I'm related to..."
"That's wacky."
"Damn straight...I feel like that's the only response you can use."
and of course,
"You're lucky he's a Nigerian, he doesn't really pick up on stuff. He's kind of socially inept."
"Julie, you're being a bitch"
"That's F-ing awesome!"
"Kareem Abdul Jabaar and some midget"

Today was busy busy! I woke up in the middle of a dream, so I was pretty groggy. After showering and whatnot I went to South Dining Hall where we had class (developmental psych). We went over our timelines, talked about high school, twas fun. After that I had 3D foundations and my group went to take pictures of our fake monument site. Then I spent like an hour printing them off (because webmail was so slow). Um, we worked on that for awhile and my hot glue gun came in handy. Then I went to my methods class, which ended up being the last one EVER! I was excited. I came back early and practiced for the Badin Breakdown with Bethany, then we dressed up all crazy-like and sang "Total Eclipse of the Heart." I think we did ok, but it's hard for girls to do well in karaoke contests because we can't cross-dress or anything. Actually, one of the judges made us quite mad...she gave us the same score she gave to the three guys who attempted to sing a Hilary Duff song. They knew like three words...seriously. Ugh. Anyway, after that I filmed my Italain newscast with a girl from class, then went to Nick Schott's room to put it on a video. We ended up talking for a long time. It was nice to visit someone. Anyway, this past week I signed up to work in the gerontology lab for next semester, so I'll be taking 18 credits as soon as I clear it with the dean. This weekend, I got invited to three parties on Friday night, so we'll see how that goes. Saturday is the Fisher Regatta and that evening I'm going to a play and hopefully making it to WVFI. I can't believe there are only about 2 weeks left. EEk!

I've very happy right now because my paper that was supposed to be due tomorrow is now due on Wednesday...woo hoo! Also, my weekend was pretty awesome, too. Let's see...Friday afternoon I visited Sorin where people were doing a power hour (only the boys of legal age, seriously). Later, Rory made me go get Jenga, which we played for awhile, and then things were getting a little weird, so Milf and I took a walk. When we got back to Sorin we saw some people we know who were going to TC, so we joined them. The party was entertaining enough, mostly just hanging out and watching people play pong. The next day me and the roomies (and Katherine, of course) went to the Blue-Gold picnic lunch outside. The food was pretty good. I even saw Jane there! After walking to the DPAC and back, we went to the game. It was entertaining, mainly because Preston was a cheerleader, so we laughed at him. I knew surprisingly many cheerleaders...it was weird. Anyway, after that Milf and I went to the Jimmy Buffet party. I liked it because it was outside and whatnot. It was a fun time, despite the fact that I forgot to eat dinner or go to WVFI...woops. Today I got a start on my paper and did some homework and ate picnic leftovers at the dhall...they were even more delicious the second time around! Now, I just got back from work. Fun times.

3:04 pm - It's SOOOOO nice outside!!
Yep! Thursday night I went to see Wicked in Chicago and it was amazing! Then we spent and hour and a half lost in Chicago...oh well, it makes a good story. Yesterday I dyed Easter eggs in SDH which was ok. After dinner (or maybe before?) Bethany, Susie and I sat outside and it was lovely. Then we watched some TV, and after Bethany and I went over to the Otter room where they were watching the Chronicals of Narnia. After parietals, we all went to steak-n-shake (I wish Wendy's had been open, but whatever). This morning I went to IHOP with the Otter Room guys and Colleen. We passed this Boy Scout BBQ that smelled really good, but didn't stop. Um, then I spent a few hours in the Otter Room, but I was kinda asleep. But it was good. I like Easter Break!

2:49 am - As I was taking a shower, I began thinking...
I swear, I am no insecure. And you know why? One of the big reasons is that I feel like people are always talking down to me or correcting me, or acting like what I say is completely stupid. I mean, I am just sooo pissed off about it lately. Even the tone of voice annoys me. There are just so many type-A, "I must be the best" people here. It's just really annoying. I just feel like I can never escape it. And it's not like them correcting me really helps anything--it's always just beside the point, or they completely miss my point as they are searching for ways to discredit me. OK, maybe I'm being a little extreme, but it's just to the point where I think of certain people and just get mad thinking about them. Sometimes I just want to yell or something, but it would be inappropriate. I know I do correct people from time to time, but I try not to take that "I know better than you do" tone. Some people just think they know everything! I wish there were more people who just don't care.

At least in my majors most people aren't like that. Well, it doesn't seem like it. Lately I've been feeling like Anakin Skywalker in that I am becoming filled with hatred. I can only hope that if someone played me, their acting isn't as bad as Hayden Christensen. I probably misspelled some stuff, or got some stuff wrong...BUT JUST DON'T TELL ME. GEEZE, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO TRY TO PROVE THAT YOU ARE SMARTER/BETTER THAN ME??? NOBODY CARES!!!!!

Man, I never update anymore. I could talk about Bethany and my quest to visit all 27 dorm in one evening (which was successful, by the way.) Or my trip to Texas with Katherine and our subsequent trip to Austin, or the St. Patrick's Day party with adults. Or I could talk about the fiasco that was returning from Texas (which resulted in me getting stuck in St. Louis and returning to school a day late.) Or how about the "mildly tramatic" oral midterm in my Wisdom class? Or about my excitment about my trip home this weekend and my first GSP RA event? Yeah, I could talk about all that, but I think it's about time for bed. Lame, I know. Maybe someday I will make a real entry. Add some pictures, even. Someday...

9:25 pm - I should be in Methods....
but I'm not. I spent 45 mins standing on south quad wil Caitlin and Dan waiting to see Air Force One fly over. No such luck. Anyway, I'm pretty psyched because I just found out yesterday that I got accepted to be an RA at GSP over the summer. I hear it's good times...free room and board for 5-ish weeks, pay, and lots of awesomeness. If you wanna know more you can go to www.kygsp.org It's awesome. Anyway, I guess I should do some homework now so I can be free for a little while. I have high expectations for this weekend...Quint party! The last quint party was the weekend of the marathon...wow. I saw Charlie Weis speak yesterday (about his charity, Hannah and Friends). It was pretty good. I also did a little escorting at Bengal Bouts. I got to dress and undress shirtless men! Haha. OK, I guess that's all for now!

current mood: cheerful
